Porsche 917 24HR Le Mans Tee
The Porsche 917 is widely regarded as one of the greatest endurance racing cars ever built and the machine that established Porsche as a dominant force at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Introduced in 1969, it was powered by a naturally aspirated flat-12 engine producing up to 630 hp in later versions and featured an ultra-lightweight chassis with revolutionary aerodynamics. Available in both the 917K (Kurzheck/Short Tail) and 917LH (Langheck/Long Tail) configurations, the 917 combined incredible straight-line speed with endurance race reliability, becoming one of motorsport's most iconic race cars.
The Porsche 917 achieved its greatest success at Le Mans with back-to-back overall victories in 1970 and 1971. Its most dominant performance came in 1971, when Helmut Marko and Gijs van Lennep drove the Martini Racing Porsche 917K to overall victory, covering 5,335 km (3,315 miles) with a top speed of 390 km/h (242 mph) in 1971. This shattered the race distance record—a mark that stood for almost 40 years—and cemented the Porsche 917's reputation as one of the greatest endurance racing cars in history.
